Music for babies

I’ve been trying to figure out some good playlists for baby music. The music they have at Babies’R’Us is all horrible Casiotone stuff, and prolonged exposure is sure to drive me insane and make the kid stupid.

Here’s my current #1 list:

No Surprises / Radiohead
Big Soft Punch / The Clean
Early Morning Breeze / Dolly Parton
Only The Lonely / Chris Isaak
When I Was Drinking / Hem
Redemption Song / Bob Marley
Georgia On My Mind / Willie Nelson
She’s A Jar / Wilco
Pancho & Lefty / Emmylou Harris
Better Be Home Soon / Kasey Chambers
Sweet Jane / Cowboy Junkies
The Road / Mark Knopfler

Anyone have any good suggestions?

    Thanks for the tip Sacha.

Pete — had to look that up on iTunes before I realized you were joking …

I don’t know. Songs about drinking, alienation and spouse abuse… Sounds like you’ve already got everything covered.

    Hi,

Found your list by googling “baby music”. I’ve been looking for good non-classical stuff to play for our (yet unborn) baby. I’ll try some of your suggestions, they sound good. My list is here: http://www.chrisdellavedova.com/?page_id=111

I’ve heard loads of positive feedback about “Welcome to the World” a CD you can find here: http://www.jgreller.com/Welcome/index.html

It’s not well known, but it’s awesome!
